A woman becomes a wife on the completion of her marriage to the man to whom she has been engaged. The church is the bride of Christ. At the marriage of the Lamb, she becomes His wedded wife (Eph. 5:22; 2 Cor. 11:2)
This will be a joyous occasion. Right now we are not ready. The word of God says at the last trumpet sound, we will be “changed” (1 Thess. 4 ) Paul also talks about how this mortal body must put on immortality (1 Cor. 15:50-57), so again there is a change that must take place.
The joy over this union will be mutual. This has been God’s plan since the foundation of the world (John 17:24; Eph. 1:4), to take the redeemed, purchased church back to reign with him.
The garment that we will wear is described by the Apostle John—fine linen, bright and pure. Do you see how special we will be:
1. Fine linen, which represents no mixture of human merit.
2. Bright linen, white represents our holiness.
3. Pure linen represents our final freedom from all earthly impurities.
4. The righteous acts, or works of the saints (see Zechariah 3:4; Luke 15:22) this is “imputed”, not inherent. (There is none righteous, NO NOT ONE).
This adornment is given to us (Rev. 19:8). ALL we have always comes from God. There is nothing that we do, but have faith and step into it.
Here are a few words from men of the past that are endearing as you think and meditate on being His bride:
“Come forth out of Thy royal chamber, O Prince of all the kings’ o the earth, put on the visible robes of Thy imperial majesty; take up that unlimited scepter which Thy Almighty Father hath bequeathed Thee. For now the voice of Thy bride calls thee, and all creations sight be renewed.”—John Milton, the blind poet
“The Brides eyes, not her garment, but her dear Bridegroom’s face; I will not gaze at glory, but on my King of Grace: not at the crown He giveth, but on His pierced hand; The Lamb is all the glory of Immanuel’s land. “—Zondervan
“He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.” Rev. 22:20—Apostle John of the Book of Revelations
