“Food is for the stomach and the stomach for food, but God will do away with both of them. The body is not intended for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body [to save, sanctify, and raise it again because of the sacrifice of the cross]. And God has not only raised the Lord [to life], but will also raise us up by His power. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Am I therefore to take the members of Christ and make them part of a prostitute? Certainly not! But the one who is united and joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have [received as a gift] from God, and that you are not your own [property]? You were bought with a price [you were actually purchased with the precious blood of Jesus and made His own]. So then, honor and glorify God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:13-15, 17, 19-20 AMP
Our bodies are to honor and glorify God. Most people shy away from 1 Corinthians, Chapter 6, because Paul deals with a immorality and sin. But if you don’t focus on that and focus on who and what our bodies are in Christ, it is a powerful passage. Our bodies are for God and this is what you learn about the body.
1. The body is for the Lord.
2. Our bodies are members of Christ. Remember, he is the head, we are the limbs, and we all work together.
3. The Lord is for the body. Did you know that? Why? He wants to save us, sanctify us through the cross. Also, because our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. This same body will die, return to the earth, but resurrect when the rapture comes, so there is significant importance to the body.
4. God’s plan is set. He will raise this body up again. When the trumpet sounds, this corrupt body will put on incorruption. This mortal body will put on immortality. It will be caught up in reunited with the spirit.
Now our spirit has the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and it’s full of power.
5. The Holy Spirit is within us. What does that mean? When Jesus died and rose again, and ascended , and sat down at the right hand of God, the Father, that same power that resurrected him from the dead, is the same power that dwells in us.
6. This also means that any spirit without a body is illegal on the earth, and we have the authority over those spirits.
We need to wake up and realize that the Holy Spirit allows us to demonstrate the power of God through us for the salvation of mankind in order that they can know who Christ is. It is more than going to church. He draws us to church to worship him, then, we go out and disciple others to come in. Churches are not about a dress code, political views, men’s laws, but, church is the body of Christ in action, letting your light shine as we go out to the world.
It’s all about the kingdom of God! Demonstrating his power! He has access to my body to use me for his glory! Let’s not focus on the sin that the body can commit, but let’s focus on the body that we can have when we become one with Christ through the Holy Spirit.
Our body is the temple. Let people come to you and discover the spirit of God in you. The hope of glory!
Hallelujah!
