verb

* 1.make (previously unknown or secret information) known to others:

“Therefore, since we have this ministry because we were shown mercy, we do not give up. Instead, we have renounced shameful secret things, not walking in deceit or distorting God’s message, but commending ourselves to every person’s conscience in God’s sight by an open display of the truth. But if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case, the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For we are not proclaiming ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves because of Jesus. For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in the face of Jesus Christ. Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us. We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who live are always given over to death because of Jesus, so that Jesus’ life may also be revealed in our mortal flesh. So death works in us, but life in you. And since we have the same spirit of faith in keeping with what is written, I believed, therefore I spoke, we also believe, and therefore speak. We know that the One who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and present us with you. Indeed, everything is for your benefit, so that grace, extended through more and more people, may cause thanksgiving to increase to God’s glory. Therefore we do not give up. Even though our outer person is being destroyed, our inner person is being renewed day by day. For our momentary light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory. So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

2 Corinthians 4:1-18 HCSB

I’ve tried to be an open display of truth as I write, but is my truth God’s truth. My truth is whatever test or trial I’m going through, which the scripture describes as a light affliction. The result of a light affliction is it produces in me an eternal weight of glory that is incomparable to the glory that we will experience.

God’s truth is the gospel and brings him glory. Glory now and forever. In this passage we learn that God has given us the treasure of his gospel through his son, Jesus. This is who we talk about, this is who we reveal to others, Jesus.

Jesus is revealed through the gospel of John:

He is the Living water

He is the breath of life

He is the Resurrection…

The Door

The Way

The Truth

My truth does not always bring him glory. My truth may demonstrate a fleshly desire for one to sympathize, be on my side, or cause one to exalt me.

In this passage, our persecution, the destruction and the dying of our spiritual body, carries in us, the life of Jesus, and reveals him through us, to others because of our reaction in the midst of being hard pressed on every side. In the midst of being crushed, perplexed, in despair, filling forsaken, we carry Jesus in us by the infilling of the Holy Spirit and because of our reaction to other people and what they see, we manifest the glory of God through us.

We are to die daily. When we die, Jesus is glorified. We confess him with our mouth, heart, baptism, but do we confess him with our life.

Our test and trials causes us to be renewed daily which is our next word. How are we renewed? We will talk about that next week. This passage has so much in it, that I may visit it again. What did you receive from it as you read. Let’s build each other up in our most holy faith.

I was allowed to see the evidence of the eternal weight of glory when my mother passed away. She looked at the seen and didn’t want to be in this world any longer. She knew about the things that were not seen and had faith for that . She looked at her eternity when she whispered the name, Jesus.

What are you willing to have revealed, manifest in your life for you to experience His glory day by day and be renewed.
